    Ehigie considers himself a 1st generation Canadian with strong Nigerian roots. He immigrated to Canada in 2009 along with his family and enrolled at the University of Windsor; where he completed his engineering degree. Upon graduating, Ehigie began his engineering career at Union Gas before joining Enbridge in 2018. Ehigie thinks himself fortunate to have had a variety of roles over his career and credits his success to the community of mentors, sponsors, advocates and mentees in his network.     Athina is a Professional Engineer and Project Management professional with over 10 years experience working as a Project Manager and Project Controls specialist across the Oil, Gas & Renewable Energy industry.

    Athina’s skills are in cost control, planning, scheduling, forensic analysis, reporting, change management, risk analysis/management, and project development. Her experience spans working across over 150 capital and operational projects - gas pipeline projects, including solar and gas integration power projects. She has worked across the EMEA region and most recently in North America where she manages major pipeline construction projects within Southern and Western Canada.

    She received her Master’s in Engineering(MENG) degree in Chemical and Biochemical Engineering from the University College of London, United Kingdom and most recently a Master’s in Data Science and Machine Learning from Massachusetts Institute of Technology, United States. Over the years, Athina has risen to the position of a full time Project development and executive manager and has served in various capacities as a member of: The World Energy Council, Chartered Member of the Institute of Chemical Engineers UK, Calgary Women in Energy Network and Young Women in Energy Network where she remains committed to mentorship and talent development. She enjoys exploring new cities, playing tennis and athletics. She was a professional athlete and represented the Reading GB Athletics team from 2007-2010.

    With over fifteen years of geotechnical and tailings engineering experience in Oil sands and Hard Rock Mining in Alberta and Ontario. Strategist, influencer with strong leadership skills. Author and co-author of over ten technical papers on tailings management.

    Manager for Tailings and Dams for a global mining company. Responsibilities include management of tailings and water retaining structures across the Canadian operational sites (Sudbury, Thompson, Long Harbour and Voisey’s Bay). Responsibilities also include managing tailings operation personnel , Responsible Tailings Facilities Engineers, EORs and engineering consultants. Managing a team of geotechnical professionals and specialists who manage Tailings operations, active and inactive dams.

    Previously Senior Engineer and Technical advisor for geotechnical and tailings engineering projects in the Oil Sands and lead for Closure Landform designs, and decommissioning of tailings structures.
