Individual Membership Categories of the BEC

At Black Engineers of Canada (BEC), we are proud to foster an inclusive and welcoming community for all individuals interested in engineering, irrespective of race, class, or any other affiliations. We believe in the power of diversity and the importance of providing a supportive environment where every member feels valued and respected. Our organization is committed to promoting equality and diversity within the engineering profession and beyond. We welcome individuals from all backgrounds to join us as we work together to inspire, empower, and advance engineering excellence in Canada.

We offer two membership categories that individuals may be approved to join:

  1. Our general membership category is open to individuals in Canada who self-identify as Black, and are either an engineering student, engineering intern, engineering graduate or licensed engineering professional with any of the provincial and territorial regulators.

  2. Our associate membership category is open to any individual of any profession, occupation, racial identity, or other affiliations who is interested in engineering or supporting the Black Engineers of Canada.

All membership are renewed annually, general members are also referred to as voting members, while associate members are referred to as non-voting members. The rights and responsibility of each category are set out in our bylaws.
