The Black Engineers Experience Survey
The Launch Trailer
Purpose & Impact
The study examines Black engineers’ own constructions of their identity and standpoints that will provide understanding of the diversity and complexity of Black leadership experiences that offers an opportunity for new perspectives and voices from Blacks in the engineering sector. The aim of the study was to examine the factors and conditions that make Black senior leadership in the engineering sector so exceedingly rare and document the working experience of Black Engineers in Canada..
This study has implications for positive social change and leadership theories that include contributing to the literature gaps on the intersections of race and gender and its impact on leadership experiences. It can provide insights and knowledge to influence the engineering sector, business leaders to develop an anti-oppressive framework, policies, and mentorship programs to elevate, support, and increase Black representation in senior and executive management positions.
